Easter Reflection:-
A Long Walk
On that first Easter Sunday, when the disciples saw the risen Christ, they “clasped His feet, falling prostate before Him (Matthew 28:9). Our feet are important, for they bear the whole weight of the body: “How beautiful on the mountain are the feet of Him who brings good tidings” (Isaiah 52:7); and Jesus’ feet must have seemed beautiful to the disciples as they saw Him walking up the mount towards them, saying “Do not be afraid.”
For three years previously, Jesus walked around the Sea of Galilee proclaiming the Kingdom of God; then came the long walk to Golgotha as Jesus walked the way of the Cross to His death. Everyone thought that was the end. Not so.
Who knows why or how the Spirit of Christ still walks the globe inspiring the heart, mind and spirit, strengthening people’s resolve to walk the way of the Cross? Walking through the parables and teachings of Jesus requires the long walk of faith, as we learn to put our money where our mouth is, and maybe it will always be so. Therefore, if you want to find pout who you really are, as distinct from what you would like to be; keep an eye on where your feet take you!
Prayer - Lord, teach me to take the long road of faith as I travel through life, Knowing that you are always with me, even to the end of time.
Amen

CONCERT IN AID OF THE ORGAN APPEAL
On Saturday, 12th April, Bolton Parish Church Choir, with the assistance of some friends, will be giving a concert in church in aid of the Organ Appeal Fund. One of the choir members, Geoff Dowling, is currently President of Manchester Organists’ Association, and this concert was originally conceived as his President’s Evening. We have decided, however, to make this concert available to a wider audience, and hope that many of the church congregation and their friends will support this event. Tickets will be £5.00 (though there will be concessionary rates for children and senior citizens). Further details will appear in the April Newsletter and on pew-slips nearer the date, but please make a note of the date in your diaries now. |
