Deanery Synod
Deanery Synod meetings take place 4 times a year. The meeting is always divided into two parts – a speaker and then - after the refreshments - the business meeting.
Whilst the business meeting is open only to members of the synod, the first part is open to all members of churches in the deanery. The topics of the talks are almost always interesting, and are relevant to current matters of discussion within the church.
Do consider coming along to any of them - the meetings all start at 7.30.

City Salute with Princes William and Harry
On 7th May on BBC2 it was interesting and colourful to see the above parade, which was held with the full support, and in the presence, of the young Princes. A tribute to British servicemen and women throughout the world, it was indeed a lovely evening for the event, which involved all three branches of the services.
It took place on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, and sacrifices made were remembered at this unique event, which featured mainly people of the Princes’ generation. A reading was given by actor Timothy West.
To add greatly to the atmosphere, the Band of the Royal Marines, and Household Cavalry Armoured and Mounted detachments took part, along with a flypast of RAF Typhoons and Chinook helicopters.
It was said that this commemoration was a “first” of its type. Maybe less formal, by suggestion of Princes William and Harry, but still very much a work in progress. To quote, “a more relaxed event that relates to their generation”.
The work of the Forces was certainly brought home that night, a glad and sad affair. Whatever your age, it was very appealing. Dare I say it – I felt like a true Brit after watching it!
