ST PETER’S CHURCHGATE FESTIVAL June 21-29 2008
The Festival is slowly taking shape with a number of varied and various events in place. The Knights in Battle will arrive at the church on Friday night and after sleeping in the church hall will set up camp in the church grounds for two days. You will be able to see how they lived in the 15th century and take part in pike drills – so come prepared to fight!! As they will be dressed in authentic costumes now is the opportunity for you to dress up as well. If you want ideas then give Elizabeth Tatman a call – you may have seen the costumes she made for Smithills Hall.
Be prepared to be entertained on the Saturday evening by A Tapestry of Music playing old instruments. The group are well known, not just in the UK but also in France where they tour each year.
What else do we have for you?
St James’ School Charity Concert on the 25th
Medieval Market in the Church yard and along Churchgate on the 21st
Possibly the Farmers Market on Churchgate on the 22nd
Several Concerts in the Church with an Organ concert as part of the events
Booking forms for the market and for the ‘Cart’ sale are now available by emailing elizabeth.tatman@btinternet.com or at the back of Church
It looks as though it will be a fantastic week BUT it can not be done without your help. So if you would like to help even for an hour at any of the events then please look at the signing up sheet at the back of the Church or talk to the A team – John Walsh, Elizabeth Tatman, David Morlidge and Ken Jones. No offer of help will be refused.

Dear Stephen
The Bolton and Rochdale Methodist District are delighted to have the President of the Methodist Conference, the Rev Dr Martyn Atkins, coming among us.
Dr Atkins is also the Principal of Cliff College, the Methodist Training College in Derbyshire, which has a significant ecumenical emphasis. At 3.00pm on Monday 7 April, the President will unveil a Blue Plaque at 80 Bradford Street, Bolton, BL2 1JR – the house where the Rev Thomas Champness began the work of Cliff College. This will be followed by light refreshments at Trinity Methodist Church, Tonge Fold, BL2 6BE. I write to invite you or representatives from the Church to be present on this occasion.
The President is a gifted preacher and will be preaching at a District Service to be held at 6.30pm on Sunday 6 April at Victoria Hall, Bolton. You and any members of your congregation would be very welcome to join us.
I look forward to your response to the invitation to the event at 80 Bradford Street.
Many thanks
Every blessing
